Complete freedom regarding the spaces, the layout of the rooms, and the overall aesthetics of the project
It is therefore a high-end apartment in a condominium facing the Serre Chevalier ski area, in the village of Monêtier-les-Bains.
The brief: complete freedom regarding the spaces, the layout of the rooms, and the overall aesthetics of the project, with a program including two master suites, a mezzanine dormitory, an entrance hall, an open kitchen connected to the living room, and a dining area.
In this attic apartment, the sloping ceiling heights are very generous and allow for an interesting optimization of space.
The wall cladding, interior doors, and all the built-in furniture are made of genuine reclaimed wood, which gives a strong identity to the entire project.
The flooring is solid oak engineered wood.
The small entrance hall consists of a guest WC, a laundry closet, and a wardrobe.
It opens onto the kitchen, which is connected to the living room and the dining alcove.
The facades are spray-lacquered in black, “Pitch Black” by Farrow & Ball, and the countertops are in black granite Z, flamed and brushed finish.
The tall shelving module, suspended from the exposed framework, is made with a fine-textured matte black powder-coated steel frame. Small LED spotlights are carefully recessed under the reclaimed wood shelves to enhance the countertop lighting.
Each appliance is selected in advance, before the technical study of the kitchen, so that everything is perfectly built-in at the time of furniture fabrication.
The dining room was designed as an alcove, and the generous ceiling height allowed for the creation of an additional mezzanine serving as a TV corner and extra bedroom.
The ladder providing access is removable in order to limit its footprint in the room when the space is not in use.
The rounded banquette is fully integrated into the bookcase, across three walls.
All the built-in furniture is custom-made, ensuring optimal space-saving and a subtle blend of wood tones and species.
In the living room, the coffee tables are made from locally sourced larch tree trunks, surfaced and protected with a natural matte oil applied with a spray gun.
A large steel-framed glass partition separates the master bedroom from the rest of the apartment, allowing the volumes to be completely opened up when the apartment is only occupied by the parents.
In this suite, the headboard is padded and upholstered in natural fabric.
The dressing room, divided into two identical parts by a central open niche including a built-in desk, is fitted with drawers, hanging rails, and shelves.
A high shelf runs along the perimeter of the room, concealing curtain rods and an LED profile with indirect lighting towards the ceiling.
It also provides space for storing and showcasing beautiful books and decorative objects.
The adjoining bathroom is fitted with a vanity unit with double sinks and drawers underneath. Two symmetrical benches allow seating on each side of the shower.
The second suite is designed with a full-height headboard with rounded edges, upholstered on site by a craftsman.
In the dressing room, the back of the central niche is upholstered with the same fabric as the bed runner, as a reminder.
The walls are painted in “Le Firmament” blue by Ressource.
The desk is lacquered in a finishing booth with the same color, for easier maintenance.
This suite also has its own bathroom with a shower and a vanity unit.
In this apartment, the precise work on shades, paint colors, and decorative fabric choices, completed by a refined selection of designer lighting and furniture, gives the project a strong and distinctive identity.
